PROGRESS
Sorry guys, I know I said I'd have the layouts done earlier, but I'm figuring it all out right now, so I'll have them by tonight. I'm trying to figure out how to be as economical as possible, with the characters and backgrounds, and I think I'll be able to save us a lot of time. Get back to you guys when I have stuff to show..
For those of you that weren't there for class on Friday, in short, the work looked like shit last week and everything needs to look like it was done by the same artist. The plan is, I'm going to do cleaned up, specific layouts today, then I'll give those to you guys to clean up and paint. It's important that they look like they were done by the same artist, so I'll create a style guide for painting, to go along with the linework guide I wrote. (Keep the saturation low!)
To put it bluntly, if you aren't going to do your work (or do it well), don't volunteer to do anything. That's fine, it makes it much harder on everyone if we're waiting on you do something and then you don't. All the artwork needs to be done in the next couple of days so we have time to put the book together, which is extremely time consuming.
We should probably meet tomorrow afternoon.

how much are the layouts changing? Because I don't think I have time to completely redo my own pages and also do new ones. I understand that we want to try and economize everything, however it may not be beneficial if we need to literally redo everything this week.
ReplyDeleteAs for meeting i don't know who is going to be able to make it but I'll try if we decide that's the best idea.
I'm totally down to meet up. I just checked in with my doctor again for an update. He is convinced that I am still contagious and should not be around people if at all possible. This worries me because the BG linework you are doing is doable on a cintique, but rather hard with a tablet. I attempted it last week do a disastrous finish. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteGuys, I just wrote an apology email to Steven but I would like to say I messed up last week. I got overwhelmed with figuring out the layouts and I couldn't get past it. I might have gotten two backgrounds partially done, and I cracked. I'm sorry for not communicating more but I'll be starting an internship at Ghostbot today (monday) and I won't be able to attend a meeting. My only day in San Jose this week will be Wednesday. However I REALLY want to help you guys finish this thing and if there is any consensus on how we're moving forward I would like to know. If Steven is drafting layouts to lend consistency to the work, then I will have a much easier time painting some backgrounds. In any case, I AM SORRY for disappearing and if you guys still want me to handle a bit of work then I'm in.
